The Organisers
At the last Guinea Pig Ball, five years ago, Lesley Wilby/O'Keeffe put her hand up to organise the next Ball. Congratulations to Lesley on her effort for organising this Silver Ball in 2007. She has been ably assisted by Roland Morley (the expert of 2 previous balls!). At an early stage we (Lesley, Roland and David Mathews) thought that as so many of the 1977 intake did a BSc (for extra summer holiday!) and qualified with the 1978 intake, we should invite them too and make it a 1976/1977/1978 intake Ball. Welcome aboard Steve Pratt and his 1978 mob!
Lesley Willby (look right)
Now a part time GP living in Bampton, Oxfordshire is married to Paul O'Keeffe wo did a BSc (qualified with 1978 intake so no conflict of interest there then!) Remembered by us for her large afro style tightly permed hair! Lead organiser without any help from Jo! Did a great job with the hotel.
Roland Morley (look left)
Consultant urologist at Kingston Hospital. Made HM forces pay his way through medical school. Met his wife Jocelyn in a forces hospital where she was nursing (he must have a thing about uniforms!). Roland was ta member of the Georges Athletics team . Can be seen racing Seb Coe in the photos! He is still keen on his sports. Able golfer, coaches the kids cricket and subscribes to all the cable sports chanels so can now do it from his armchair!
Steve Pratt
1978 vintage. GP living by the river in Maidenhead with Jeanette. Steve nearly got volunteered for the after dinner speech as nobody tells a story like Steve! He got off lightly as Prof Joe Collier volunteered to speak. Steve (Jeanette) organised the 1978 intake part of the ball.
David Matthews
GP in Thames Ditton. Webmaster. Keen cyclist. I drink less beer now (no more home brew)! Never did find the library (the lift kept going to level 2)! I thought it would be nice to have some nostagic disco music . And so we did!
